Thank goodness for early voting!
It's kind of exciting to live in state where the race will be close and your vote might actually make a difference. As opposed to a state like, oh I don't know.... Wyoming maybe?
And maybe some day I'll get back to posting up pictures from the real camera instead of these crappy phone pictures. Just maybe.

little susie homemaker and the nose-pickers
Lately I've been playing around on the sewing machine again. Feels good to get some of those ideas out of my head and into the fabric. Maybe eventually I'll make something photo-worthy to post here.
And this is long gone. Milo is all over the place and into everything like I never could have imagined. It's fun though, he's such a smiley, happy baby. And Amelia is surprisingly patient with him. So patient in fact, that yesterday I found her laying on the floor in her room, Milo climbing on top of her, with his fingers up her nose. How's that for getting your little brother to do your dirty work?!

Happy Mother's Day!
"Real isn't how you are made," said the Skin Horse. "It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real."
"Does it hurt?" asked the Rabbit.
"Sometimes," said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. "When you are Real you don't mind being hurt."
"Does it happen all at once, like being wound up," he asked, "or bit by bit?"
"It doesn't happen all at once," said the Skin Horse. "You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand."

Ye old blog. And RIP ye old SUV.
Off now to gather belongings out of the new (to us) 4runner that was just in an accident and probably totalled. :( Conrad was driving and not hurt thankfully. The kids and I weren't even in the car when it happened and I'm so glad... it rolled and everything. Scary. Probably a sign that we can't afford the gas for a vehicle like that.

Hair.
I've decided that it's kind of lame to not use my kids' real names here. Nobody even calls Milo "butter bean". I did for a little bit, and still do but not very often, it never really stuck. We still sometimes call Amelia "Peaches" but it feels kind of fake whenever I type the nicknames. So they're Amelia and Milo from now on.
And Amelia (at age 4 almost!!!) just had her first haircut yesterday! I gave her the choice of going to a salon to have it done or have me do it. She chose me, so yesterday I plopped her down in front of Peep and started chopping. So far the only picture I have is this one from my phone.
And she has school pictures today, so I'm excited to see how they turn out. Now if only I could get around to doing something with my head of unruliness.

Somewhere in this world...
Butter Bean is napping. All by himself on a bed. And it's been like 30 minutes! Insane. This child sleeps great at night, but daytime sleep is a whole other story. Usually it's just ~15 minute cat naps in the sling or in my lap, and if I attempt to put him down at all, he either wakes up immediately or sleeps for about 3-7 minutes before he's wide awake again. I'm guessing it's because he did end up getting the cold his sister has, but still. It's nice for a change. And what am I doing with this precious time? I'm on the internet of course. I can hear my mother's heavy sigh now. "oh, Jackie..."
And now I hear a wakeful babe. It was fun while it lasted.

International Women's Day.
Everything I would have wanted to say is said better right here. Amanda's always so inspiring. List of cool links toward the bottom of the post.

Milo does thing where he will hold something in his mouth and show it off or crawl around with it... this time it was a little football. He was incredibly proud of this and having so much fun, it was fun to watch. And then
